Effective October 5, 2026
Youth Protection Policy
This is an English translation of the Korean Youth Protection Policy. If the two differ, the Korean version prevails — except that for consumers habitually resident in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, this English version is also binding and any difference is interpreted in the consumer’s favour.
Nonscale Co., Ltd. (주식회사 논스케일, the “Company”) sets and follows this policy so that young people do not come across harmful information on the BapsangLog app and website (bapsanglog.com, the “Service”).
Key points — please read first
· People under 16 cannot sign up. Members under 16 who signed up before October 5, 2026 also cannot agree to the new Terms of Service, so they cannot use features that require an account; they can still delete their account. If we learn of circumstances suggesting that a member is under 16, we first restrict the account and tell the member why. If the member does not show their age within 14 days, or is confirmed to be under 16, we delete the account, and in that case we also delete the ratings and “Haven't been” marks they left (section 3).
· Nicknames and profile photos that break the community rules are removed or taken down without prior notice. Depending on how serious the violation is and whether it is repeated, we may restrict the account or terminate the agreement. When we take action, we tell you the reason and how to appeal (sections 4 and 7).
· Illegally filmed material, falsified video material and child or youth sexual exploitation material are deleted or blocked from view immediately once we become aware of them, and we report them to the relevant authorities to the extent permitted by law (section 5).
· Turning on “Make my Meal Scores public” lets anyone see which places you scored, in which month, and with what score. It is off by default (sections 2 and 4).
· Anyone can report. You do not need to be signed in (section 4).
1. Purpose and principles
In line with the purpose of Article 42-3 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (the “Network Act”), we have appointed a Youth Protection Officer and take the measures in this policy so that young people do not come across harmful information, such as obscene or violent information.
In this policy, “young people” means young people as defined in the Juvenile Protection Act, that is, people under 19. It does not include people who have reached January 1 of the year in which they turn 19.
We do not collect dates of birth, so we do not know which members are young people. For that reason, we apply the protective measures in this policy equally to all users.
2. What you see and post on BapsangLog
- BapsangLog is a service where you leave a score from 1 to 100 for places you have been to, and where members’ scores are combined to show each place’s Meal Score.
- The only things members create and post themselves are their nickname, their profile photo, and the text they write in reports, place fixes and appeals. Scores are left as numbers, and a place’s highlights are chosen from a set list. Text written in reports, place fixes and appeals is not visible to other users.
- A member’s nickname and profile photo are visible to others only when the member turns on “Make my Meal Scores public”. When it is on, the member’s nickname and profile photo, together with the score and month they left for that place, appear under “Public Meal Scores” on the page of each place they rated. The member’s public page also shows the number of places they have rated and how generous they are with scores. It is off by default.
- There is no feature for members to exchange messages or comments with each other, and no feature to search for other members by name. There is also no feature that shows others where you are right now. However, if you turn on “Make my Meal Scores public”, the places you rated and the months you left your scores are visible (section 4, “For young members”).
- We do not show advertising. We do not provide media harmful to young people as defined in the Juvenile Protection Act, and we do not carry advertising for such media either.
Places that serve alcohol
Place information is based on public data and user reports. So it includes places that mainly serve alcohol, such as pubs and soju bars, and some of them may be places young people may not enter.
We do not advertise or promote alcohol or tobacco, and we do not raise or lower any place’s score in return for payment or other reward. Only people 16 or older can sign up (section 3). The Juvenile Protection Act prohibits selling alcohol to young people and designates places young people may not enter. Please keep this in mind when you go to a place.
3. Minimum age
- You can browse without an account. While only browsing, you cannot post anything, but you can report (section 4).
- Only people 16 or older can sign up. This is the same whichever country you use the Service in. In the app stores, too, the app is intended for people 16 or older.
- When you first sign up, we ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older. We do not ask for your date of birth or ID.
- Members who signed up before October 5, 2026 are also asked, the next time they open the Service (for members whose accounts are restricted, after the restriction is lifted), to confirm that they are 16 or older and to agree to the Terms of Service. Until they agree, they can only read the terms and policies, sign out and browse, or delete their account. If you are under 16, do not confirm — you cannot agree, but you can delete your account (below).
- If you use the app in a region where the law requires checking the age reported by the app store (some US states), people who are under 16 or who have not completed the app store’s age verification can only browse. The app receives only an age range from the app store and makes the decision on the device; the age range it receives is not sent to our servers or stored.
If we learn a member is under 16
- We immediately restrict the account and tell the member, in “Notices” under MY, why we intend to delete the account. We also send a push notification to devices where notifications are allowed. Within 14 days from the day the notice is received, the member can show their age or appeal. If the member is confirmed to be under 16, or if we hear nothing within 14 days, we delete the account (section 7; Articles 4(3) and 16(3) of the Terms of Service).
- Members under 16 who signed up before October 5, 2026 as people aged 14 or older under the Terms of Service in force at the time cannot agree to the new Terms of Service. So they cannot use features that require an account, but they can browse and delete their account at any time. If we learn that a member is in this situation, we proceed as described above (Article 4(3) and the Addendum of the Terms of Service).
- When we delete an account because the member is under 16, we also delete the ratings and “Haven't been” marks they left, and recalculate Meal Scores without those ratings. This differs from deleting your account yourself, where your ratings remain in a form detached from your nickname and sign-in information (Article 17 of the Terms of Service).
- If a child under 16 has signed up, the parent or guardian (legal representative) should let us know using the contact details in section 10. Please include the child’s nickname so we can find the account. After confirming that you are the legal representative and that the account belongs to someone under 16, we proceed as described above.
- You can also delete the account directly on the child’s device via MY → ☰ (Settings) → Delete account. In that case, the ratings remain in the same way as when members delete their own account, so if you want the ratings deleted too, let us know before deleting the account.
How we handle age and personal information is also described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Measures against harmful information
We do not tolerate harmful posts or users who harass other users.
What you may not post
Under Article 9 (Community rules) of the Terms of Service, you may not post nicknames, profile photos or text like the following.
- Obscene or sexual content
- Illegally filmed material, falsified video material (such as deepfakes), and child or youth sexual exploitation material (section 5)
- Violent content, or content that harasses or threatens others
- Content that encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders, or explains how to do them
- Profanity, and hateful or discriminatory expressions
- Advertising or promotion, and content promoting illegal goods or services such as drugs or illegal gambling
- Content that encourages or glorifies terrorism
- Impersonating another person, or posting another person’s photos or personal information without permission
Safeguards in place
- Nickname filter — When you choose a nickname, our server filters out words such as profanity and hateful expressions. A nickname that is caught cannot be used.
- Public visibility is off by default — Unless you turn on “Make my Meal Scores public”, neither your nickname nor your profile photo is visible to others. You can turn it off at any time, and when you do, they are taken down from place pages and your public page right away. However, link previews may remain (“For young members” below).
- Removing extra information in photos — When you upload a profile photo, we remove extra information in the photo, such as where it was taken, and resize it smaller before upload.
- Block — On a place page, under “Public Meal Scores”, tap ⋯ next to that person → “Block”, and that person’s Meal Scores are removed from your screen. They are not notified. You can unblock them in MY → ☰ (Settings) → Blocked people.
- Location — Location features can be used only if you agree to the Location-Based Services Terms, and even if you do not agree, you can use all other features as usual. Exact coordinates are not sent to our servers. Coordinates that are sent to our servers are rounded on the device, those requests carry no account information, and the servers do not store the coordinates. The map is drawn using the map service of Kakao Corp. To draw the map, your device receives map data for the area in view directly from Kakao, so if you open the map at your location, that area is near your location. Our servers do not send coordinates to Kakao (Article 4 of the Location-Based Services Terms).
Reporting and how we handle it
If you see a harmful post, please let us know. Anyone can report.
- In the app or on the web — On a place page, under “Public Meal Scores”, tap ⋯ next to that person → “Report”. Available to signed-in members.
- Without signing in — In the report form, enter the address of the page you are reporting, the reason and a description, confirm that you are reporting in good faith, and send it. You do not have to give your name or email address. You can also report using “Report this page” at the bottom of public pages on the web.
- By email — admin@thenonscale.com
- We check reports every day and, as a rule, handle them within 24 hours of receiving them. If it takes longer, we tell the reporter the reason and the expected timeline, if we can reach them by email. Reports are reviewed and decided by a person. Illegally Filmed Material, etc. (section 5) is handled immediately once we become aware of it.
- If a violation of the community rules is confirmed, we remove the nickname, take down the profile photo or stop showing the member’s public Meal Scores, without prior notice.
- A taken-down profile photo is deleted immediately from the storage that anyone can view. The photo file is kept separately in our storage, where others cannot see it, and is deleted after the period for appealing ends or the result of the appeal is out. If the appeal is accepted, we restore the photo. If the member deletes their account before then, it is deleted without delay, and no later than the day after they delete their account.
- However, for Illegally Filmed Material, etc., we immediately delete the file too and keep only a record of the action (section 5). Where the law requires content to be kept (for example, under a removal order for terrorist content from an authority in the European Union), we keep it separately, where others cannot see it, for that period (Article 14 of the Terms of Service).
- Depending on how serious the violation is and whether it is repeated, we may restrict the account or terminate the agreement. Even while an account is restricted, the member can still browse, read “Notices” under MY, appeal, change the “Location” setting and delete their account (Article 16 of the Terms of Service).
- We do not tell the reported member who reported them. The only exception is when the law requires us to disclose it.
- We tell you report outcomes and the reasons for actions in the ways described in section 7.
For young members
- If you turn on “Make my Meal Scores public”, anyone can see, along with your nickname and profile photo, which places you scored, in which month and with what score, how many places you have rated, and how generous you are with scores. Someone might be able to guess where you live or which school you go to from the places you visit often. Before turning it on, talk it over with a parent or guardian or a trusted adult.
- If you turn it off, they are taken down from place pages and your public page right away. However, the preview image for your public page link remains for up to 1 hour, and previews already posted to messengers and the like may remain on those services. People who already know the address of your profile photo can open it until you delete or change the photo (Privacy Policy, section 5).
- For your nickname and profile photo, it is safer not to use your real name, your school, your contact details or a photo that shows your face.
- If something makes you uncomfortable or scared, don’t keep it to yourself — report or block, or get counseling from the organizations in section 9.
5. Illegally Filmed Material, etc. and information suggesting a crime
We handle illegally filmed material, falsified video material (such as deepfakes) and child or youth sexual exploitation material (“Illegally Filmed Material, etc.” under Article 22-5 of the Telecommunications Business Act) as follows.
- When we become aware of it through a report, a deletion request or a request from the relevant authorities, we delete it or block others from seeing it immediately, without waiting 24 hours. If it is a profile photo, we delete the file too.
- To the extent permitted by law, we report it to the relevant authorities, such as investigative authorities. What we provide in that report is the address where the post was, the time we became aware of it and the time we took action.
- We provide information that could identify the person who posted it only when investigative authorities request it through the procedure set by law, when a person’s life or physical safety is in imminent danger, or when we must notify under Article 18 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) (Privacy Policy, section 5).
- If it is hard to judge whether something is Illegally Filmed Material, etc., we may request a review from the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC), and may block others from seeing it until the result is out.
- We immediately restrict the account of the member who posted it, and may terminate the agreement following the procedure in Article 16(3) of the Terms of Service.
- We keep a record of the time we became aware of it and the time we took action.
Even if it is not Illegally Filmed Material, etc., if we become aware of information giving reason to suspect that a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of persons has taken place or is likely to take place, we immediately inform the relevant investigative authorities to the extent permitted by law.
If you have been harmed because your photos or videos were spread, you can get counseling and help with takedowns from the National Center for Digital Sexual Crime Response (NCDSCR, +82-2-735-8994) (section 9).
6. Posts that infringe rights
A person whose rights are infringed by a post, such as through invasion of privacy or defamation, can explain the infringement and request that the post be deleted or that a rebuttal be published (Article 44-2 of the Network Act). Someone else using your photo as their own profile photo is one such case. Please make the request through the report form or by email (admin@thenonscale.com). When making the request, you can specify an email address to receive the outcome.
- When we receive a request, we take the necessary action without delay, such as deleting the post. If it is hard to judge whether rights are infringed, or a dispute is expected, we block others from seeing the post for up to 30 days (temporary measure).
- When we take action, we immediately inform the person who made the request and the member who posted it. We inform the member who posted it in “Notices” under MY, and also by email if the member has given us in advance an email address for notices of action. We keep that email address until the member withdraws the designation or deletes their account.
- On the public page where the post appeared, we place a notice stating what was removed or placed under a temporary measure (the content of the public page, or the profile photo) and the date of the action, so that other users can also know. The notice does not say who posted it, who made the request, or what the request said. If a temporary measure ends without infringement being found, or an appeal is accepted, we take the notice down.
- Even without a request, we may apply a temporary measure to a post we recognize as infringing rights; in that case too, we place the same notice and close the measure within the same period (Terms of Service Article 13(6)).
- The member who posted it can appeal in the ways described in section 7.
7. Report outcomes, reasons for actions and appeals
- Receipt — When we receive a report, we let you know that we have received it. In the app, on the web and in the report form, we let you know on screen, and the report form shows a reference number. If you report by email, we let you know by email.
- Outcome — When handling is complete, we tell the reporter the outcome (whether action was taken, or, for place information, whether it was corrected). We do not say what action was taken on the reported member’s account, because that is the member’s information. We also tell you the options available if you disagree with the outcome (such as bringing a lawsuit in court — Article 12(5) of the Terms of Service). Members are told in “Notices” under MY; people who left an email address in the report form or who reported by email are told by email. If you do not enter an email address in the report form, we cannot tell you the outcome.
- Reasons for actions — When a member is subject to an action decided by a person (Article 11(1) of the Terms of Service), such as removing a nickname, taking down a profile photo, stopping the display of public Meal Scores, excluding ratings from or down-weighting them in the Meal Score calculation, restricting the account or terminating the agreement, we tell the member the reasons no later than the day the action is taken. The statement covers what we did and why, the provision of the Terms of Service or the law relied on, whether automated means were used, how to appeal, and the fact that you can challenge it in court regardless of any appeal. We send it in “Notices” under MY, and also send a push notification to devices where notifications are allowed. The same applies to members whose accounts are restricted. We do not terminate the agreement immediately — we first restrict the account and tell the member why we intend to terminate it, give them 14 days to explain or appeal, and only then terminate it (Article 16(3) of the Terms of Service). When we delete an account because the member is under 16, we likewise notify them first and give them a chance to explain (section 3). The exceptions where we do not notify, or notify later, are set out in the Terms of Service.
- Appeals — If you disagree with an action, you can appeal within 6 months from the day you received the notice (the day that notice arrived in “Notices” under MY), through that notice or by email (admin@thenonscale.com). However, for a notice that we will terminate the agreement, you must appeal within those 14 days — because termination cannot be undone once it has happened. It is free. A person reviews it again and tells you the outcome and the reasons within 14 days, and if the action was wrong, we reverse or correct it without delay.
- Members whose accounts are restricted can also delete their account at any time.
8. Youth protection training
We train the people who review reports and take action. The training covers laws on youth protection, the criteria for decisions under this policy and the community rules, the procedure to follow on becoming aware of Illegally Filmed Material, etc., and how to respond to inquiries from young users.
9. Help and grievances
If you have been harmed by harmful information on the Service, or something worries you, please let the Youth Protection Officer (section 10) know by phone or email. Anyone can get in touch — young people themselves, and also parents or guardians, teachers and others. We recommend email, so there is a record. How to report a post is described in section 4.
If you need help outside the Service, you can get counseling from, or make a report to, the organizations below.

11. This policy in other languages
The Korean version of this policy is the authoritative version. The English version is a translation, and if the meaning differs, the Korean version prevails. However, for consumers who live in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the English version is equally authoritative with the Korean version, and if the two versions differ, the one more favorable to that consumer prevails.
Korean version: 한국어 · English version: English
People using the Service from outside Korea can use the reporting methods in section 4 and the contact details in section 10 in the same way.
12. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the text before and after the change on this page from 7 days before the change takes effect. If the change is important to users, we post it from 30 days before, and also notify members separately through an app notification or a notice on the Service’s screens. Earlier versions can be viewed exactly as posted in the Version history.
Addendum
This policy takes effect on October 5, 2026.
The Terms of Service taking effect on the same day raise the minimum sign-up age from 14 or older to 16 or older. The previous Terms of Service (effective September 11, 2026) promised to give notice 7 days before changing the terms, or 30 days before if the change is unfavorable to users, but to meet the official launch date, we did not allow that period this time. As a result, members under 16 who have already signed up will become unable to use features that require an account without having received advance notice for the promised period. Those members, too, can delete their account at any time (section 3).
